Terms of Service

Last updated September 11, 2026

Agreement

By using Tonvert you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.

This is a free service provided for personal and commercial conversion of media files you have the right to convert.

What the service does

Tonvert provides browser-based media conversion tools. The conversion is performed by software running on your own device; we do not receive, process or store your files.

Because everything runs locally, the service depends on your browser and your hardware. Results, speed and file size limits vary accordingly, and we can only promise reasonable effort rather than a guaranteed outcome for any particular file.

Acceptable use

You agree to use these tools only with files you are legally entitled to convert. You are responsible for complying with copyright, licensing and any terms attached to the source material.

You must not use the site to infringe intellectual property rights, to circumvent technical protection measures such as DRM, to process material that is illegal in your jurisdiction, or to attempt to disrupt or overload the service or its infrastructure.

We may withdraw access where we have reasonable grounds to believe the service is being used for unlawful purposes.

Your files and your content

You keep all rights to the files you convert. Because your files never reach us, we claim no licence over them and we cannot view, moderate or recover them.

You should keep your own backup of any original file. A browser-based conversion is not a substitute for archiving the original media.

Intellectual property in this site

The design, text, layout and original code of this site belong to Tonvert. You may not republish the site wholesale or present it as your own.

The conversion engine is FFmpeg, distributed under the GNU Lesser General Public License, running as WebAssembly compiled to run in your browser. It is bundled as an unmodified build produced by the upstream project.

Third-party names such as FFmpeg, MP3, MP4, MOV, MKV, Apple, Google and YouTube are trademarks of their respective owners. They are used here only to describe the formats and products involved, and their mention does not imply any affiliation or endorsement.

Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the tools will be uninterrupted, error free, or produce a result suitable for any specific purpose. Conversions can fail, and lossy formats can alter quality. Verify important output before relying on it.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tonvert is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, nor for lost data, lost profits or business interruption arising from your use of the site.

This includes damage to a file, a device running out of memory during a conversion, or a downloaded result being unusable. Always keep the original copy of your media.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised version, and the "last updated" date at the top will reflect the change.

These terms are governed by the laws applicable at the operator's place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these terms limits rights you hold under mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence.
